RESEARCH PROJECT | DISSERTATION
My project proceeds on the assumption that the theological and political are inherently entwined, and asks what the results of this entanglement are not only for politics, but also for the theological tradition. This project will work to explicate this assumption and answer this primary question through four subquestions:
- How are theopolitical claims being constructed by presidential candidates in the United States today and what are the implications for theology?
- How is the Body of Christ recognized and experienced in theopolitical responses to contemporary issues?
- In which ways do existing theological approaches reflect on, explicate, and conceptualize dichotomous theopolitical representations?
- How can we conceptualize theology from a space of impurity—one wherein the constructed boundaries around Tradition are challenged and complexified?
