RESEARCH PROJECT | DISSERTATION

My dissertation project examines transformations in late-modern era in the Western society, especially religious transformations, and shows, how far they become visible in the person of Pope Francis. First, I describe the increase of complexity in social life on the one hand and the rising of identity issues on the other hand. Afterwards, I show how far Pope Francis, especially his Post-synodal Apostolic Exhortations Amoris laetitia and Christus vivit, could be seen as examples for these bipolar social situation. Can Francis be called a typical late-modern actor, who focuses complexity and identity simultaneously?
